Her attitude, actions, and work ethic are every Coaches dream. She smile through every class, while making huge improvements on a lot of the movements (I still remember her first Handstand Attempt). She has made solid steps in improving her body composition as well. She always step up and helps with new people without ever being asked.
OUTSIDE The Box: Outside of crushing WODs on a daily basis, tell us more about yourself.
What is your Hometown or where did you grow up, Significant other, Kids, Siblings, Occupation, Where did you go to College, did you play any sports, ETC…?I primarily grew up in Kent but my family spent a few years in Germany as well. I graduated from Central Washington University in 2012 and currently work in public relations/communications at Waggener Edstrom Worldwide. Although I’m 6ft tall, I actually didn’t play a lot of sports growing up because I spent all my time riding/training horse.
On Saturday night, where could we typically find you? I’m almost always hanging out with friends whether it’s out in Seattle or having a game night. I hate being bored and want to make sure I’m living life to the fullest whenever I can – YOLO! (Haha! Totally kidding)
What is your guilty pleasure/ favorite cheat meal? If I could eat ANYTHING and not feel guilty about it I would have a giant plate of nachos with everything on them and tons of cheese. I also love froyo and it’s torture having so many froyo locations in Redmond.
What is your favorite healthy meal? I know it’s not super healthy but I am obsessed with sushi. I would eat it every single day if I could!
What are your Favorite sports teams? Seahawks! I watch every game!
What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit? I love being outdoors whether it’s hiking, skiing, swimming, boating, camping – you name it! I also still love to ride horses whenever I can.
INSIDE the BOX:
Why did you start? I started crossfit because I couldn’t afford to ride horses anymore and was looking for a new passion that kept me in shape. Now I’m obsessed like everyone else, but it’s not just about the workout anymore – I love the community at Fuse.
What did you think after your first WOD and/or after your first week? I signed up at the end of my first class so I was pretty much hooked from the start. 🙂 I remember being SUPER sore but I knew this sport would challenge me both physically and mentally and I loved it!
What is it about CrossFit and our box that keeps you coming back for more and more? I had tried a few places before coming to Fuse and you just can’t been the community here. It’s competitive but also fun. I think the thing I love most is that the minute you walk in the door, people are talking to you and it’s impossible to be in a bad mood.
What are some of the noticeable changes about yourself since starting CrossFit? Physical? Mental? Where do I even start? I’ve gotten stronger, faster, more toned, more confident and I’ve started eating a lot healthier. I’m also doing things I never thought I’d be able to do – handstand walks, pull-ups, doubleunders, etc. I’m also now used to being in a constant state of soreness. 🙂
You walk into Fuse without knowing what the WOD is…. What’s the movement you hope IS on the board, and what movement do you hope is NOT on the board? I like doing wall balls (because I’m tall) and all the cardio stuff (running, rowing, jump rope). The movements I hope NOT to see (mostly because I’m bad at them) are single arm KB cleans, side lunges and dead lifts.
What are your short term and long term CrossFit goals?
Short term: Kipping pull-ups, handstand walks, pushups without knees and rope climbs
Long term: Staying active and involved in crossfit for as long as I can, continue changing my eating habits, and maybe even compete one day – we’ll see!
I tell people every week that “the hardest part of joining CrossFit is just walking through the door”. For all of the individual out there considering “walking through the door” for the first time, what do you have to say to them? Come to Fuse because the second you walk in, you won’t feel like the new person anymore. Everyone is awesome and I guarantee you’ll see the results of your hard work.
